John & Catriona, Cork, August 2020
Had one of the best holidays ever. Everything was perfect. Beautiful part of the country, felt very welcoming and everything was to hand. Would come back in a heartbeat!
Leonard Family, August 2020
Thank you so much for providing such a lovely house. It was clean and spacious and completely child friendly. We loved the booklet with all the walks – it took the hassle out of trying to out what was family friendly. We can’t wait to go back and tell our friends about this wonderful staycation location. Thank you so much and no doubt we will be back.
Hetherton Family, Meath, July 2020
Really enjoyed our break. The house is family friendly, lovely, bright, and airy. Kids loved the outdoor area especially the tree house. Nice location for touring with plenty of day trips in the area. John & Julie were very nice to deal with and Darragh was very welcoming on our arrival. Would definitely recommend here to family and friends.
O’Neill Family, Meath, July 2020
John and Julie, we really can’t thank you enough for our stay in this wonderful cottage. The meet & greet and welcome pack on arrival was very much appreciated. We have done staycations for many years now and this has been by far our best accommodation – very spacious, very clean, and very safe for our children. We would have no hesitation in recommending here to our family and friends, and we will definitely return next summer. The information you sent us prior to our arrival was very beneficial and helped us have the most wonderful week in “The Garden of Ireland”. Thanks again and see you on our return!
Collins Family, Cork, July 2020
The house is in a beautiful area and Wicklow is the perfect haven to come and have a staycation. The kids loved the jungle gym and GAA pitch across the road. Having the recommendations in the book was very useful and John was very helpful during our stay. The house is very spacious and clean and comfortable, and I couldn't find anything bad to say about the house or Askanagap. It was lovely to get away from covid and working from home and explore another county in our beautiful country. Thanks again and we’ll recommend to family and friends.
Voellinger Family, California, March & April 2020
Thanks for being such amazing hosts during a time of uncertainty in the world. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to be. Our kids learned to bike and hike, talk to sheep and dance a jig. Seems like a lovely community you have here and we hope to be back!
Patrick, Helen & Tish, December 2019
Had a lovely break here in Askanagap Country Cottage. Hope to return in Summer time.

Liam & Dolores, Milton Keynes, UK. September 2019
John & Julie, many thanks for the warm welcome we received when we arrived. Everything explained to us, shown where everything was. Advice for a day out in Carnew which was fantastic. The cottage was spotless and had all that we needed for our stay. Will certainly recommend to all.
Chris, Hannah, Liam & Jade, Nottingham, England. September 2019
Once again a great welcome and lovely clean cottage. Weather’s been great, plenty to see (and do), would recommend to anybody.
Delaney Family, Wexford, August 2019
We had a wonderful stay here at Askanagap Country Cottage. Family-friendly cottage, suitable for all ages and abilities. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Kids loved the outdoor play area with slide and swings. A few recommendations if you are on holiday here include Meeting of the Waters in Avoca, Dublin Zoo and Sealife, all within 90 minutes drive from Askanagap. Playground and wonderful walks around the cottage, so much to see and do, I could write a book about it, hopefully we’ll be back soon.
Ryan Family, Cashel, Co. Tipperary, August 2019
All of us greatly enjoyed our stay. The house was lovely and cosy and laid out perfectly to suit our family. Views were fab, we only wish the weather had been a bit better. We had never been to Wicklow and there is so much to see and do, we may return, hopefully, during summertime. All in all the accommodation was perfect. Couldn’t ask for more.
Chris, Denise, Cara & Lauren, Co. Down, Northern Ireland, August 2019
Thank you John & Julie for a lovely stay in your beautiful cottage. When we arrived we were pleased to see the fire lighting on a day that was raining and after a long drive. The fruit cake was delicious too. We hadn’t stayed in this part of Wicklow before and we enjoyed visiting Aughrim, Avoca and Wicklow Town whilst also spending a day in Bray (the kids loved it) and a trip to Kia Ora mini farm. The views from your cottage are amazing and Chris and Cara were made very welcome when they went to watch a football blitz on the GAA pitch. We will return and of course recommend to family and friends!
Paul, Kate, Emily & Daniel, Knutsford, Cheshire, UK, August 2019
Thank you John & Julie for a wonderful stay in your cottage. It was our first visit to Ireland and we hope to return. Thank you John for all the detailed directions and waiting up for us when we arrived. It was lovely to have the fire lit and thank you for the delicious cake. We really enjoyed the walk from the cottage up the mountain. We also visited Glendalough, Glenmalure and Baltinglass Abbey. We did a cliff walk at Wicklow Head and swam in the sea with seals. A truly memorable holiday.
Sylvia, Ann & Angela, Down & Derry, Northern Ireland, August 2019
The cottage surpassed our expectations, wonderful location; peaceful, yet not far from many beautiful places. We especially loved Aughrim, where we enjoyed several great meals! Thanks to John & Julie for all your help. We definitely hope to return.

Freda & Bill, Shropshire, UK, June 2019
Another warm welcome to a spotlessly clean cottage. Visited all the usual gardens, all still beautiful, no wonder Monty Don listed Mount Usher in his top 10 best gardens. Can’t believe nine years have passed since our last visit, how time flies. Weather on the whole good, although we did have a couple of torrential downpours, but Ireland wouldn’t be so green without a little rain!
Susan & Jessica, Yorkshire, U.K. June 2019
Been to some beautiful places in Ireland over the years, but I have to say the Wicklow Mountains is one of my favourite places. We have really enjoyed ourselves. Your holiday home was lovely and clean, very cosy and we will be back. Thank you to Julie & John for your hospitality. Great place.

Lovely hosts! Very helpful and we loved the house. Thanks John & Julie.
Dawn & Patrick, Sheffield U.K, September 2018
The owners, John & Julie have clearly put an amazing amount of effort into ensuring that their guests have the best holiday experience possible. Recognising it takes a few days to "find your feet" in a new area, they have included recommendations of places to eat, places to walk and to visit whilst becoming accustomed to Askanagap and Wicklow. The phrase "home from home" is often over used - it is inescapably the right words for the care and attention that they have put into ensuring that the cottage has everything imaginable to ensure the comfort and every possible need of the guest is catered for. The owners live across the road from the cottage and are keen to be available to answer questions, attend to any need that may arise, or just give advice on things to see and do, but only if the guests need it. We had an immensely enjoyable holiday in the cottage and would hastily recommend a stay here, couples or families are assured of a wonderful time.
Harris Family, July 2018

A great stay at the cottage, one of the most enjoyable vacations we ever had. Everything was so clean and tidy. We found delicious bread, butter, tea to welcome us. We had complete privacy and at the same time John & Julie were easy to reach. Everybody in the neighbourhood is so friendly. We loved everything about the cottage!!
